Glaziers in Hyndland and the West End
Hyndland is largely blonde and red sandstone tenement flats, most of them with original timber sash and case windows, and a good part of the area sits within a conservation area.
That combination shapes almost every job here. Replacing sash and case with uPVC is usually neither permitted nor desirable, so the work is repair and upgrade: renewing cords, replacing worn parting beads, fitting draught seals and, where the sash is deep enough, putting slim double glazed units into the existing frames.
Access is the other West End reality. Tenement windows are frequently three or four storeys up with no rear access, and communal close windows belong to the whole building rather than one owner. We work around both, and we are used to jobs that need the factor or the other owners squared off first.
